Custom Seasonal Vinyl Banners

Wednesday, October 14th, 2009

During holiday seasons people like to see holiday themes on custom vinyl banners. If you would like to do this below are some ideas for some interesting custom vinyl banners that will be sure to create a lot of interest.

Seasonal custom vinyl banners should be designed to bring about a happy fun mood. This will be sure to attract more customers. Here is an example of how a company could use a seasonal custom vinyl banner for just this purpose.

Our example company sells ice cream and frozen treats. The time of the year that our company sells their most is during the summer months when the weather is hot. So they will try and create some interesting banners for these months. They can use 4th of July theme or even the family picnic theme. This will work well for the summer. But our company is smart. They know that with some really creative custom banners around. Thanksgiving and Christmas time they can create enough interest to increase sales at this usually slow time.

For the summer 4th of July custom vinyl banner, they will need to pick a background color for their sign. This color should be vibrant and tie in with the season. For this particular sign, they select sky blue. The color reflects the sunny skies of summer and will mesh well with many different color choices. For their text color, the company has selected red for their main text elements and white for accent text.

Now, the company needs to move on to the graphic selection stage. It is important to consider the emotional reasons that cause your customers to buy your product. For the summer 4th of July theme a flag or fireworks will work along with a few kids eating ice cream. This will create the idea that the kids are having fun with the fire works and some added enjoyment eating your ice cream. For the summer family reunion they might use graphics to help the reunion planner to include some ice cream .A couple kids helping them self to some ice cream from the ice cooler will work. These graphics make a customer feel tied in with the graphics and trigger the desire for something cool.

Have some of the graphics an actual picture of your company’s ice cream from the company. This Custom Vinyl Graphic will be large, crisp and showcase the actual product. The supporting vinyl graphics, mentioned above, will be strategically positioned throughout the sign.

The text announcing a special price on this particular ice cream treat will be displayed at the top of the main graphic. It is important not to hide the picture of the treat, since that is the main design element of the sign.

Extra text will go at the bottom of the sign, using the accent color of white. This text will be used to announce other items that are for sale and the length of time that the special treat will be priced at a special rate. This information is important to include on a sign, particularly if a sale is time limited.

Now that the sign has been designed, it is time to figure out where to display the custom vinyl banner. This means that the company will be able to display it outside. They select the sidewalk in front of their business, using a special display stand for their sign.

This stand has a steady base and a frame in which the banner will be inserted. If you wanted to display a larger custom vinyl banner for this type of sale, you could also hang it across the front of your business, or in a display window lead people to this entrance.

Lobster Rolls

Thursday, July 2nd, 2009

Lobster rolls are an omni present offering of many locations throughout New England as well as the Canadian Maritime Provinces. It is a sandwich that is filled with lobster meat. Traditionally, they contain all of the meat that a one-pound lobster can offer.

The lobster meat is combined with mayonnaise, such chicken or tuna salad, and then served on a grilled hot dog bun. In many cases, it is served on a lightly toasted New England style hot dog bun. New England hot dog buns are different from ordinary hot dog buns in that they have no crust on the sides. The top of the roll is split as well, rather than being sliced like ordinary hot dog buns. The lobster roll is served with the opening of the sandwich on top, rather than being on the side.

The filling of the sandwich is made of cooked lobster meat, mayonnaise, and a variety of other ingredients. Traditionally, lobster roll stuffing can contain diced celery and or scallions. Another variation is using drawn butter in place of mayonnaise. Drawn butter can also be used with the mayonnaise. A lobster roll sandwich can also have lettuce and lemon.

In the United States, they are associated with the state of Maine. While Maine seems to get the benefit of the doubt when it comes to all things lobster related, lobster rolls are commonly available at seafood restaurants across the New England states as well as on Eastern Long Island. These delights are available in any area where lobster fishing is common.

During the summer months, they are a staple summer meal. In Canada, Nova Scotia in particular is fond of lobster rolls. Here they may appear on hamburger buns, baguettes, or other types of bread rolls. Lobster rolls have even been served in pitas. For side dishes, the majority of the time people are given potato chips and dill pickles.

McDonald’s, in an effort to conform to the native diet, has been known to offer the McLobster in restaurants located in New England as well as in the Canadian Maritime provinces. While seasonal, the McLobster is still sold. It has been sold, in years past, for $4.75. McDonald’s does not use a New England style roll, merely a toasted roll for their lobster rolls.

Dog Food Skin Allergy

Wednesday, August 6th, 2008

Have you noticed your dog scratching at a particularly are a lot recently? Perhaps your dog has even been biting at an area and is beginning the lose hair. If you have been noticing this then there is a chance that your dog may be suffering from a skin allergy that has been set off by an allergy to something in their dog food.

While treating this condition is very easy, actually diagnosing it can be very confusing. These symptoms can be caused by food allergies, inhalant allergies, or even a flea allergy. The first two will be the most common however. The major difference between both of these is that a inhalant allergy is seasonal most of the time because it is usually caused by a plant of tree. Other symptoms that are common of this allergy are frequent ear infections that don’t clear up quickly and hot spots. Ear infections are actually pretty easy to spot. You will probably notice that their ears are extremely dirty. If the infection is bad enough you might even smell something like vinegar when you are close to the dog’s head.

If your dog is suffering from a food allergy it probably isn’t your fault. Large breeds of dogs are more likely than others to get food allergies. Breeds like German shepherds, Dachshunds, cocker spaniels, rex cats, and retrievers are far more likely to get allergies. It is theorized that this is because they have a slower metabolism. Allergies can also be genetic. Your dog may have simply just inherited the allergy from one of its parents.

If your dog has been scratching at an area, or you noticed anything particularly unusual then you should consider if they have a dog food skin allergy. If they do, then treating it will be pretty easy. All you will have to do is switch them to a dog food that they have never had made with ingredients you know they aren’t allergic to. The first step in this process is to read over the ingredients that are present in the dogs food or foods that they are eating right now. It will likely be a meat or grain they are allergic to. You then need to pick a hypoallergenic or organic dog food that is made with things you know your dog hasn’t eaten and isn’t allergic to. Most dogs are allergic to beef, so you could try something like rabbit. You then need to start the dog on an elimination diet.

Food Treats and Horticultural History on the Lyme Bay Coast, England

Thursday, January 10th, 2008

This article is one in a series with suggestions as to what to do when taking a holiday in the Lyme Bay coastal region of south west England. My intention is twofold – firstly to tempt you to visit this wonderful area of England and secondly, to help you enjoy your visit by suggesting some interesting things to see and do.

The Lyme Bay coast traverses west Dorset and east Devon and is an ideal place for family seaside holidays, romantic short breaks for two or winter weekend breaks. The area is an easily accessible part of England and is renowned for its fossil hunting, breathtaking natural beauty, sheltered harbours, sandy beaches and thatched cottages. The weather is relatively mild all year round so it’s a great place to visit at any time during the year. Lyme Bay is about two and a half hours by train or car from London – if you are travelling by train out of Waterloo station then Axminster, in East Devon, is a good destination to head for.

Here are couple of suggestions of things to do if you do decide to visit the Lyme Bay coast.

Food treats from Hugh’s River cottage

Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall, celebrity chef, smallholder, television presenter, food writer and campaigner for chicken’s rights can often be seen around these parts travelling between his River Cottage HQ and his Canteen and Produce Shop in Axminster. If you fancy a culinary treat both are worth a visit.

The local produce store in Axminster, East Devon offers a collection of local and organic food and drink produce from the South West. The store stocks a wide selection of the best local and seasonal provisions including milk, eggs, bread, meat, poultry, beers and wines. The Axminster Canteen, which is annexed to the food store, serves snacks and meals during the day and is open for evening meals from Tuesday to Saturday.

If you want a real treat during August (you may wish to save up for this!) you can spend a summer’s evening in the garden at Park Farm, River Cottage HQ, dining alfresco on the best local produce. The evening starts at 6:00pm with canapés and a welcome drink. You will then be taken on a tour of River Cottage HQ, viewing the gardens and smallholding – any questions you might have about growing your own fruit and vegetables and running a smallholding will be answered by your hosts. You will be served a four-course set menu based around produce from the garden and the best ingredients from local organic growers. This is a real foodie treat for that special occasion.

300 years of horticultural history and so much more

Take a trip to Bicton Park and enjoy over sixty acres of beautiful grounds with sweeping lawns, elegant water features and grand formal gardens. Over 300 years of horticultural history can be found in these magnificent gardens set in East Devon’s beautiful Otter Valley. Bicton Park has attractions that will appeal to all ages. There is the impressive Palm House, home to a fantastic collection of palms and tropical plants and The Arboretum, which has some of the most fantastic trees in the country. Wander and enjoy other attractions which include The Little House of Shells, the romantic Hermitage Garden, The Secret Garden, streams, woodlands, the lake and acres of informal gardens.

There is plenty to occupy younger members of any visiting party. You can explore the nature trail where birds can be seen feeding and heard singing and you can learn to identify their calls, you can play mini golf, or lose yourself in The Bigfoot Maze. The Bicton Woodland Railway offers a scenic ride around the park and is a treat for children and grown-ups alike. After all that activity you can take a break and enjoy a meal or snack at the Orangery Restaurant which has great views across the gardens.

Somewhere to stay

One of the most flexible and convenient ways to take a holiday in the Lyme Bay area is to book a self-catering holiday cottage. Lyme Bay Cottages provide self-catering holiday accommodation all year round with properties ranging from traditional Devon and Dorset cottages through to modern apartments – some in quiet country hideaways others in lively little coastal towns and villages. You can view details of Devon and Dorset holiday cottages and more information about the Lyme Bay area at LymeBayCottages.com.
